Concerts: The primary emotional themes of humankind are truly timeless. The struggles and relationships that move us as people are unchanged over the centuries - Love, Life, Art, Death, Religion, Nature, War, Peace, etc. By selecting concert themes we delve into different time periods, surveying how song collaborators dealt with the chosen theme in their era. We invite our listeners to connect over the centuries with the hearts and souls of artists and art forms making them relevant to challenges of the current day, and validating forms with which they may not be familiar. In order to illustrate this point, our opening Gala Concert, entitled "Our Love is Here to Stay", will play on the universal appeal of the 'Love Song' as it has played throughout the past five hundred years. Artists will present numbers that survey musical styles ranging from classical to contemporary, jazz to jive, and musical theatre to Motown. The emphasis of this evening will be to provide fun, exposure, entertainment, and relevance and may encourage the listener to explore song forms which are new to them as individuals.
Artists: SEFoS will present thematically programmed recitals featuring a group of talented singers who can enrich and educate their audiences. By thoughtfully matching artists and innovative programs, the festival has the capacity to bring the highest-quality artistic experience to not only our audiences, but our roster of artists as well. Artists for every SEFoS project will be selected by the Artistic Directors, taking into account recommendations from members of the Board of Artistic Advisors, performance experience, linguistic facility, and the intangible factor that indicates a true love of the genre and willingness to treat every song with equal importance.
